The start of a near-decade spell in the top-flight, he hit 14 in his debut campaign as well as helping Wigan to the final of the League Cup.

Departing in the summer of 2006 for another goal-filled spell with Blackburn Rovers, he would join Reading in January 2012, spear-heading their return to the Premier League.

Six goals in his first 17 matches as Brian McDermott's team won promotion, an injury-laden 18 months followed where he scored once more in 12 appearances before announcing retirement.

The Poland Under-21 star spent a decade in English football, most notably for Barnsley and Derby County.

However, it was the DW Stadium (then JJB) where he got his chance, moving over in 2006.

Two cup appearances and two loan spells saw his time in Greater Manchester come to an end in 2010.

Reading signed him in 2011 and he earned a winners medal in the 2012 Championship winning squad, playing four league matches but failing to find the net.

Opting not to extend his deal, the Royals let him go and he went on to have a two-year stint with Barnsley and one more year in England with Blackpool and Rochdale.

Still playing up until last season, he scored one in 20 appearances in the Polish second tier.
