Reading lost their final match of the 2021/22 campaign 1-0 to play-off bound Luton Town.

Goalkeeper Orjan Nyland dropped the ball in first half stoppage time, with Harry Cornick all too grateful to win the ball and fire past the Norway international.

Here are the player ratings.

Orjan Nyland- 5: Had an okay match minus the major error. Was average for most of the match but had to remove a mark for the mistake leading to the only goal.

Terell Thomas- 6: Sloppy first half but grew into the game and looked solid in the second period. Shifted into central defence after a hamstring injury to Tom Holmes and looked good.

Michael Morrison- 6: Commanded the defence well and won his tackles. Was even a goal threat, having two good chances to equalise in the second half.

Tom Holmes- 6: Came back in after three weeks out and looked like he hadn't missed a minute. Strong in the air and strong in the tackle, he has certainly recovered from his mid-season dip.

Reading Chronicle:

Baba Rahman- 6: A threat on the left, the Chelsea loanee was much more prominent in a dissapointing first half than he was in an improved second half.

Tom McIntyre- 6: Higher than usual, playing in a holding midfield role with Josh Laurent, and he played it well. Won plenty of tackles hgih up the pitch and confidently played the ball to a teammate. Did his job comfortably in an unnatural position.

Josh Laurent- 6: Had a very quiet game by his standards bar some cut-back crosses in the second half which evaded teammates.

Junior Hoilett- 6: Poor game compared to previous matches, the Canada international put in disappointing set pieces throughout and quite often saw his crosses go out of play.

Ovie Ejaria- 7: Reading's brightest spark throughout, he looked much more natrural in the hole behind the central striker. Had a good chance to score in the first half but dictated much of the play in the second period.

Yakou Meite- 6: Saw lots of the ball in the first half but faded by the second period. Hopefully a full pre-season sees a full-strength Meite return next season.

Lucas Joao- 6: Had very little of the ball but had a decent half-chance when he span and failed to connect fully with his effort.

Reading Chronicle:

Subs:

Rashawn Scott- 6: Very bright when he came on, loved to drive at players and try to make something happen. Definitely one for the future.

Tom Dele-Bashiru- 6: Only played 12 minutes and did nothing of note.

Kelvin Abrefa- 6: Came on for Holmes and did his job.
