Scottish Premier League champions Rangers are reportedly plotting a swoop for Royals midfielder Josh Laurent.

The Glasgow giants are keeping tabs on Laurent, who was recently awarded the prestigious Player of the Season accolade after a hugely impressive debut campaign at the Madejski Stadium.

The 26-year-old was an almost ever-present in Veljko Paunovic’s side in the 2020-21 season, notching three goals and three assists in his 45 Championship appearances.

According to national reports, Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is keen to improve the spine of his squad as they attempt to consolidate their position at the top of the Scottish game next season, having recently ended Celtic’s dynasty with their first SPL title in 10 years.

Laurent joined the Royals on a free transfer from Shrewsbury Town last summer, signing a two-year deal.

The midfielder has seen his stock rise substantially following his brilliant season and has an estimated price tag of £8m.

Elsewhere, young goalkeeper Jokull Andresson has attracted attention from Premier League clubs following his loan spell with Exeter City.

Andresson kept 11 clean sheets in 34 games with the Grecians, who finished just three points off the League Two play-off spots in ninth place.

The 19-year-old has reportedly caught the eye of Premier League sides, according to City manager Matt Taylor.

When asked whether Andresson would be a target for Exeter this Summer, the Grecians boss confirmed that he was ‘top of the list.

Taylor told Devon Live: “He is top of that list, but we also recognise that he is Reading’s player.

“I know that there has been Premier League teams looking at him, so they could be buying from Reading, let alone him coming back to League Two.

“We have to be realistic in terms of what his future will look like.

“We’ve put ourselves into the best position that we can do and we have built a good relationship with Reading off the back of that.”
