Here are our player ratings from Reading’s 1-1 draw away at Barnsley on Friday evening.

Rafael – 5

Didn’t have a huge amount to do and looked a bit shaky when deliveries were put on top of him. Lucky not to have been punished after dropping a cross. Distribution questionable.

Andy Yiadom – 4

Gave away the penalty with a cheap challenge in the box which he’ll be regretting. Didn’t offer enough on the overlap but did defend relatively well in the closing stages.

Lewis Gibson – 7

A good game for Gibson who looked solid in a defensive capacity and wasn’t shy to support Ejaria further forward.

Michael Morrison – 7

Was subbed off with a worrying-looking injury on his return to the side. Won almost everything before his substitution and looked a rock at the back.

Liam Moore – 8

A brilliant showing from the skipper who threw himself in harm's way on several occasions to win the ball back and charge down shots from the edge of the box.

Andy Rinomhota – 7

Grabbed an assist with a gorgeous ball that was converted by Ovie Ejaria. Tireless in the middle of the pitch, breaking the play up.

Josh Laurent – 8

The Josh Laurent that we have become used to seeing all season long. Kept running until the end, strong and effective in the challenge and distributed the ball well all afternoon.

Ovie Ejaria – 8

Grabbed a goal after plucking the ball out of the air before slipping it confidently beyond the goalkeeper. Looked like Reading’s most dangerous offensive outlet.

Michael Olise – 5

Didn’t quite make the impact on the game that we know he can. Got out of  a few tight spaces with some nice touches but never really looked much of a threat.

Yakou Meite – 5

Nearly earned an assist after sneaking a march in on the goalkeeper. Made a few good runs in behind but didn’t quite manage to stretch and connect to a few chances. Blazed an effort over the bar early on that he’ll be regretting.

Lucas Joao – 3

Missed one of the easiest chances he’ll ever have in the second half after Meite stole in on the goalkeeper. Seemed to let that get him down as his application was really disappointing afterwards. Held the ball up well in the first half but faded badly as the game went on.

SUBS

Alfa Semedo – 5

Came on and won a few headers and held onto the ball.
