Here are our player ratings from Reading's 2-1 defeat against lowly Birmingham City at St Andrew's.

Rafael - 5

Couldn't do a huge amount about either goals in an otherwise quiet night.

Tom Holmes - 4

Looked like a rabbit in the headlights at points up against Birmingham's physical front-line. Made a few good passes to get Reading up the field.

Liam Moore - 3

Really poor from the captain. Couldn't deal with the strength of Hogan and Jutkiewitz all night and needed to do more to organise the defence which looked at sixes and sevens for Birmingham's second goal especially.

Omar Richards - 4

Lost the ball cheaply several times and struggled to have much joy in the final third.

Andy Yiadom - 6

Tried to push forward up the right flank and managed to get into a few decent crossing positions but was let down by a lack of movement in the box.

Tom McIntyre - 5

Had a tough evening after being hassled every time he touched the ball but looked more calm in possession than some of his teammates.

Josh Laurent - 5

Made some good challenges to regain possession and played some decent forward passes.

Alfa Semedo -  3

Struggling to think of much that Semedo did or offered tonight. Contributed little in attack or in defence.

Michael Olise - 7

Produced an inch-perfect cross which was gratefully converted by Yakou Meite for Reading's opening goal. His crossing was really good all evening. Looked comfortable and confident with the ball at his feet and tried to get things going, was let down by his teammates.

Yakou Meite - 6

Scored Reading's goal after being in the right place at the right time to head home. Came close with a thunderous free-kick as well. Put himself about but seemed but did lose out on more 50/50s than he'd of liked.

Lucas Joao - 3

Looked a real shadow of the player who was so dangerous a couple of months ago tonight. Struggled to retain the ball, looked off the pace and not as committed as those he was up against. Again, seemed to let his frustrations get the better of him.

SUBS

George Puscas - 3

Came on for Yakou Meite but barely had a sniff against a heavily reinforced Birmingham defence late on who put everyone behind the ball.

Ovie Ejaria - 5

Had a couple of sniffs at goal and did manage to get into a little bit of space out wide without managing to carve out any opportunities for his teammates.

Andy Rinomhota - 5

Returned from injury and added a bit of urgency in the midfield.
