On Saturday afternoon, Reading travelled to the City Ground, looking for a fourth consecutive league win at Nottingham Forest’s expense.

The game finished as a 1-1 draw, courtesy of a late Yakou Meite goal upon his long-awaited return. The Ivorian has averaged a goal every 131 minutes this season, ranking as Reading’s most prolific goalscorer.

However, it was Andy Yiadom who finished as the Royals’ top performer against Forest (8.10). The full-back struck the woodwork for Reading and was a key figure going forward, and also defensively throughout.

Yiadom completed more crosses than anyone else on Saturday (eight), as well as making four clearances (=1st). The Ghanaian international’s rounded performance earnt him man of the match at the City Ground.

Michael Olise was the only player to match Yiadom’s key passes record (four) against Forest.

The young Frenchman registered more touches than any other player on Saturday (81), completing eight crosses and finishing as the Royals’ second highest performer (8.06).

Captain, Liam Moore, was as composed as ever in the heart of defence, making more passes than any of his teammates (60), and finishing with the highest pass percentage of all Reading players to complete 90 minutes (90 per cent).

Josh Laurent completed 57 passes, ranking in second just behind Moore. The midfielder made up for the absence of partner, Andy Rinomhota, with the most interceptions against Forest (five).

Lucas Joao struggled in front of goal; the Portuguese forward hit the post from a corner, prior to Forest’s opening goal. Joao took five shots at The City Ground, more than any other Reading player, but only troubled Samba on one occasion.

In contrast to his strike partner’s low conversion rate on Saturday, Meite ranked as Reading’s biggest attacking threat, despite only featuring for the final half-hour. 75 per cent of the striker’s efforts were goal-bound (1st).

Veljko Paunovic’s side now only have ten games remaining in the Championship, and face relegation-threatened Birmingham City (21st) at St. Andrews in midweek. A win could see the Royals further cement their playoff spot, but dropping points at this stage is dangerous – particularly with Barnsley hot on their tails.
