Reading make the short journey to Buckinghamshire on Tuesday to face bottom side Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park.

Below we tell you all you need to know about the Chairboys before kick- off.

Form
Currently embarking on their first ever season of second tier football, Gareth Ainsworth and his side have a mountain to climb if they are to stay up.

With four wins all season, they currently sit on 20 points, eight behind Sheffield Wednesday in 23rd and 11 points off of safety.

The Bucks side have picked up one win in eight, a 2-3 at Huddersfield Town, with only Bristol City being on worse form in that time.

Reading are on mixed form going into the game, with two wins and two defeats in the last five.

However they are unbeaten in five away matches in the league, beating Bristol City 0-2 last Tuesday.

In the earlier fixture Veljko Paunovic’s side won 1-0 thanks to a Lucas Joao strike, but it was far from a comfortable victory.

This is the first league meeting between the two sides at Adams Park since 2002, a 0-2 Royals win courtesy of Jamie Cureton and Darius Henderson goals.

However Jose Gomes took his side to Wycombe last season for the League Cup first round, a 1-1 draw which the visitors won on penalties to set up a tie with Plymouth Argyle.

Overall Reading have won 9 of the 13 meetings, last losing 5-3 at Adams Park in the third tier in 1999.

Team News

Wycombe have no fresh injury concerns and could name an unchanged side from their 0-0 draw with Millwall on Saturday, with former Royals Jordan Obita and Garath McCleary expected to play their part in the game.

Both players gave eight years’ service to the club and made over 400 appearances combined.

For Reading both Liam Moore and George Puscas could start, with both making the bench for the last two matches and the Romanian striker getting minutes in Saturday’s defeat to Middlesbrough.

Key Player

Another former Reading player has caught the eye this season for Ainsworth’s side, Uche Ikpeazu.

The former Cambridge United striker spent two years with Brian McDermott’s side but failed to make the first team, despite scoring 28 goals in 28 matches for the Under-18s in 2012/13.

A strong and imposing centre-forward, three goals may not seem a great deal but he all round game is crucial everything that is good about Wycombe this season.

The former Hearts striker struggled with injury when first arriving, meaning that he has start just eight matches and appeared seven times from the bench this season.

His last goal was in the last midweek round of fixtures, scoring against fellow relegation candidates Derby County, but it counted for nothing as they lost 2-1.

The key player for play-off hopefuls Reading remains Lucas Joao, who despite having quiet matches in recent weeks still manages to get on the scoresheet.

It was his goal at the Madejski that settled the return fixture between these two sides back in October.

17 league goals so far is his best ever return in English football.

According to Sky Bet at time of writing, Reading are 17/20 to win, a draw is 5/2 and a Wycombe win 16/5.
