The game marked the Royals first ever Premier League match in their 135-year history.
After a disastrous start, in which Steve Coppell's men found themselves 2-0 down at a packed Madejski Stadium, Reading staged a miraculous comeback to win 3-2.
Dave Kitson netted the Royals' first ever Premier League goal, Steve Sidwell bagged the equaliser and Leroy Lita rounded off a remarkable day for the town.
