READING bounced back from two defeats on the trot with a sound performance against a woeful Bristol City side.

The Royals return to Berkshire 2-0 winners after a couple of goals from Lucas Joao and Michael Morrison late in the first half.

Here’s how the players rated from this evening’s game.

Rafael -- 6

Untroubled in the first half by a lacklustre Bristol City side. A bit more involved in the second half but not truly tested.

Yiadom -- 7

Broke down the right-flank a few times in the first 45’ and perhaps should’ve done better when presented with some good opportunities to drive forward. The strong running continued in the second half.

Morrison -- 8

A crazy goal from the ever-present centre back, who deserved his strike for some excellent performances recently. Showed great perseverance and skill to find the net on half-time. A quieter second half but did his duties well.

McIntyre -- 7

The academy graduate looks increasingly stable next to Morrison. A quiet but assured first-half was followed by some good runs into midfield and some clever interceptions in the second period.

Richards -- 8

Some good last-ditch defending in a rare Bristol attack in the first half. He was also unlucky not to put the Royals ahead in the first half, seeing a shot cleared off the line having crept into the penalty box. Provided one very dangerous cross for Semedo after the break.

Semedo -- 7

The loan man dropped into defensive midfield alongside Andy Rinomhota and was very comfortable. Made a great interception in the build-up to the second goal.

Rinomhota -- 7

The centre-midfielder was his usual busy self in the first 45 and did well to direct play. Continued to hassle Bristol following the interval.

Olise -- 7

Some more silky skills on the wing created a few good chances but it was his superb delivery into the Bristol box which led to Joao’s opener. His deliveries looked dangerous in the second half and he set Esteves away after orchestrating a dangerous counter attack.

Ejaria -- 6

Unlucky not to get on the scoresheet after seeing a goal-bound shot blocked before the goals flew in. Almost registered an assist after cutting a ball back to Richards, whose strike was cleared off the line.

He definitely should have scored late in the second half after being sent through on goal, but a number of poor touches let him down.

Esteves -- 6

A good, pacey attacking option down the wing. The youngster linked up well with Yiadom in the first half and should have scored after the ball fell to him at a corner, but his effort was well blocked. Another effort in the second period was on target but was straight at the sliding defender.

Joao -- 8

A quiet first half erupted into life with a goal and an assist in the space of three minutes. If his goal was easy following some poor Bristol defending, his assist was pure class after a fantastic turn set Michael Morrison set free in the box.

His second 45 was also quiet, but his moments of magic won Reading the game.

Substitutes.

Tom Holmes -- 6

Slotted in comfortably at right-back.
