Reading look to bounce back to winning ways on Saturday as they host Gary Rowett’s Millwall at the Madejski.

Below we look at everything you need the Lions ahead of the game.

Form

A first full campaign under former Derby County and Birmingham City boss Rowett, the side sit 14th in the table.

Since returning to the division in 2017 the London club have had two 8th placed finishes and one 21st placed finish in 2018/19; and it is still unsure which of these finishes this season is likely to be similar to.

The league’s draw specialists, with 14 draws in 28 matches, the side remain tough to beat but sometimes lack the firepower to win matches.

Only three sides have conceded less than the Lion’s 26 goals this season, however scoring just 26 is far from top-half form.

Hitting Sheffield Wednesday for four last time out, the side are unbeaten in four with three draws and a win since a 3-0 defeat to Bristol City in the FA Cup.

In the meeting against the Royals at the Den it finished 1-1, with goals from Jed Wallace and Lucas Joao in November.

Overall the sides have met 106 times since 1921, with Reading shading the head-to-head 43 wins to 39.

Team News

Attacking stars Yakou Meite and John Swift are expected to remain out of contention following injuries picked up last week.

Midfielders Ryan Leonard and Maikel Kieftenbeld are also expected to miss out the match on Saturday for the visitors.

Key Player

Someone who has been the main man in South London for the last two seasons, Jed Wallace has five goal contributions to his name this season, more than any other player in the squad.

A tricky wide player who is also capable of playing through the middle, his tally of 10 goals and 13 assists last season is his best return in a Championship campaign.

However similarly key to Millwall’s style is their ability to defend, having conceded just 26.

Former Royal Jake Cooper is key to that, but it is even more effective in the opposition box, having scored 12 and assisted 9 in his four seasons of Championship football with the Bermondsey-based outfit.

Odds

According to Sky Bet, at time of writing, Reading are 5/4, Millwall at 5/2 and 2/1 for a draw.
