Speaking after last week's win against Coventry, the Serbian manager confirmed that he was eyeing potential reinforcements in defensive positions and attack.

After Sunday's draw with Preston North End at Deepdale, Paunovic confirmed that contact had been made - although it was too soon to know whether these arrivals could be imminent.

"We had conversations and this final week is going to be decisive", Paunovic said.

"I cannot tell you whether we're going to have success in bringing our targets.

"There are not many, honestly. There are two players that we have enquired and we are working towards getting the deal done.

"But, it is a little bit too early so I cannot announce anything yet."

Reading are yet to make any moves in the January transfer window.

It opened for Premier League and EFL clubs at the start of the month and shuts a week today Monday, February 1.
