Here are our player ratings from Reading's 0-0 stalemate away at Preston North End.

Rafael - 7

Produced a fantastic stop to keep the scores level just before the break after Riis found himself in space from close range. Made a couple of other good stops and had a solid game.

Tom Holmes - 5
Competent but unremarkable for Holmes who surrendered possession too easily on a couple of occasions. Tried to support the attacks with runs into the Preston half but didn't cause that many issues.

Tom McIntyre - 7

Nearly replicated his strike against Luton Town in the second half. Defended well and was alert to the danger all afternoon making some key interceptions.

Michael Morrison - 7

Coped well overall with the physicality of the Preston attack and looked calm and assured on the ball.

Omar Richards - 5

Defensively sound, making several key challenges to deny Preston more clear-cut opportunities. Frustrated in an offensive sense, struggling to create much on the overlap.

Josh Laurent - 7
The usual blend of tenacity off the ball and technical ability on the ball from Laurent who looked to drive the side forward from inside the Royals half on several ocassions.

Andy Rinomhota - 6
Did the ugly side of the game well and provided a good shield for the back four, covering a lot of ground.

Ovie Ejaria - 5

Showed some moments of magic with some good close control, without much end product. Had a low effort well saved by Iversen in the second half.

Sone Aluko - 6

One of Reading's brighter attacking players. Keen to run with the ball and inject a bit more pace into the Royals attack. Had a decent effort tipped over the bar.

John Swift -  7

Bright in the first half and came close with a couple of free-kicks from distance. Looked bright and purposeful on the ball.

Lucas Joao - 3

Had an uncharacteristically quiet afternoon in front of goal. Looked isolated for long periods and didn't have much of an impact in the final third. Missed a golden chance to open the scoring, putting a penalty wide of the target. A bad day at the office, but a rare one you'd expect.

Alfa Semedo - 3
Came on for Sone Aluko but failed to make any impact of note.
