Here are our player ratings from Reading's 3-1 defeat away to Brentford in the Championship.

Rafael - 3

The Brazillian has been consistently inconsistent all season and that continued today. Should've done much better for the first goal which he should have been able to save comfortably. Again, his distribution was wayward and slow at points.

Tom Holmes - 5

Recovered after an error that led to the opening goal when Canos was afforded far too much space. Made some key challenges to keep the score down and looked to support the attack in the second half. Brentford would've probably added a fourth but for a superb last-ditch challenge.

Liam Moore - 4

Wasn't at his best today. Gave too much room when he was ran at and failed to organise the defence in the same way as we've seen in previous weeks.

Michael Morrison - 5

Got into some good positions to clear crosses at the front post. Struggled to deal with the pace and imposing presence of the Brentford attack.

Tomas Esteves - 3

Tried to contribute going forward but failed to contribute much of note. Defensively Far too often failed with the movement of Brentford's wide players and needed to get a lot tighter to hm man.

Andy Rinomhota - 4

We've become used to seeing Rinomhota break the play in the middle of the park but he looked slow to react to danger and was slow to get into position and disrupt Brentford's attacking flow.

Josh Laurent - 8

Was Reading's best player on the day with another tenacious display in midfield. Broke up the play well and maed some crucial recovery challenges. Looked to push forward when in position and made several breaks into the Bees half.

Michael Olise - 5

Produced a lovely delivery for Aluko's goal in an otherwise quiet afternoon. Didn't drop back enough to collect the ball when Reading were being pressed high up the field and as such had limited chances to influence the attack for long spells.

Alfa Semedo - 3

Spurned a chance with a weak effort in a rare first half attack for Reading. Never got into the game and looked disinterested at points.

Ovie Ejaria - 6

Tried his best to make things happen out wide with some good touches and close control despite being well marshalled by the home defence. Carved out a bit of space which was rare for Reading today.

Sam Baldock - 3

Was pushed into an unfamilliar wide role early on and was given the thnakless task of chasing shadows for much of the game as Brentford maintained possession.

Sone Aluko - 6

Scored Reading's goal with a well-taken header shortly after his introduction. Added a bit of energy to the Reading attack.
