Here are our player ratings from Reading's 2-1 home defeat against high-flying Norwich City at the Madejski Stadium.

Rafael - 7

Made several superb stops to deny Teemu Pukki and could do little with either of the Norwich goals. Again, distribution left a little to be desired at points.

Lewis Gibson - 5

After a solid showing against QPR, Gibson wasn't quite as effective tonight but certainly didn't have an awful game. Was keen to get forward but that led to him being out of position at points as Norwich broke. Looked comfortable in possession.

Liam Moore - 5

Did a good job of organising the team from the back with constant communication and although he gave away the penalty, without the challenge you'd of thought Norwich may well have scored anyway. Other than the penalty Moore was solid defensively.

Michael Morrison - 6

Combative and physical display from Morrison who was reliable in the air and composed in the challenge. He didn't dive in and give space away cheaply and read the game well.

Tom Holmes - 5

Put in some strong challenges and battled well for the ball. Would've liked to have seen more in an attacking sense but defensively Holmes didn't get caught out and maintained a good position throughout.

Andy Rinomhota - 4

Uncharacteristically sloppy as he gave the ball away for the opening goal under little pressure. His radar wasn't there all night and he was a touch slow in the transition.

Josh Laurent - 7

Covered a lot of ground and won his fair share of challenges. Keen to join the attack when possible and was good at spreading the play.

Sone Aluko - 5

Bright in the opening stages but faded as the game developed. Keen to take on his man and popped up all over the attacking line in the opening half an hour especially.

Michael Olise - 5

Scored Reading's goal, although it's not clear how much he knew about it. Came close with a set-piece in the closing moments but was quite quiet by his usual standards for a lot of the game.

Ovie Ejaria - 5

Showed his skill to get out of a lot of tight spots with close control although never produced the killer pass when needed. Wasn't given any time on the ball by the press of the Norwich defence.

Alfa Semedo - 3

When a player who's favoured position is defensive midfield and he's thrown up top from the start, you can't expect a lot. That being said, neither Semedo's touch or movement looked like causing Norwich any real problems. Surrendered possession far too easily.

SUBS

Tomas Esteves - 4

Came on to provide more of an attacking impetus but failed to make his mark.

Jayden Onen -  4

Picked up a booking more-or-less straight after his introduction and didn't ever get into the game.

Sam Baldock - 2

Lost a lot of aerial challenges, without even jumping for some, and seemed to be behind his man rather than in front of him as he tried to work the line. Didn't provide the focal point Reading needed as Norwich sat deep and couldn't hold the ball up.

Tom McIntyre - 4

Came on for the last quarter of an hour but was slow to pass and played the ball backwards far too often with Reading chasing.
