Reading FC boss Veljko Paunovic was delighted his side gave returning Royals supporters a 'memorable' performance following the 2-0 win at home to Nottingham Forest.

2,000 fans returned to the Madejski for the first time since March and saw Reading secure a second consecutive home win courtesy of a first half penalty from Lucas Joao and a Michael Morrison header after the break.

Speaking after the game, the Serbian boss said: "I am feeling great.

"Winning, having the fans back and playing good football, making everyone remember this day as a special moment and getting a win with a solid performance is fantastic.

"I am very happy because of the team recovering the form.

"We learned [from Wednesday's draw] that we had to be patient and had to have impact - finish our actions.

"We had a lot of shots on goal but most importantly, it's a purposeful shot where we want to hit the net, not only the target.

"That's the difference. We could have scored more today if we concentrated more on control."

Paunovic thanked the attending fans for the 'warmth and support' given to the players from the moment the players emerged from the tunnel.

"Having fans back was better than I expected.

"From the moment we stepped on the field, we felt the warmth and support and the eagerness of our fans.

“I’m very grateful for the support and the warmth.

"It was special and unique. It was organic and it was unforgettable.

"During the game, I wasn’t aware until someone told me the fans were cheering my name!

"Thank you to the fans for that.”

Michael Olise continues to impress in a Reading shirt, and now has more assists than any other Championship player.

Paunovic challenged the youngster to continue improving in his post-match press conference.

“Michael knows very well we acknowledge his talent and always support him but he has to keep learning.

"He still needs to grow and has things that he can implement soon in the future and be an even better player.

"This is what we are encouraging, not to be content with what he is right now but what he can be.

"We all see huge potential in him and having an impact in our club, delivering to the team and to our fans all his talent and capabilities.

"I'm sure everyone is going to be surprised with what he can do."
