Here are our player ratings from Reading's lacklustre 3-0 home defeat against Stoke City at the Madejski Stadium.

Rafael - 3

Another shaky display from the usally reliable goalkeeper. His distribution was awful, really struggling to find an outlet all afternoon. Three shots on target for the visitors, three goals.

Andy Yiadom - 5

Returned to the starting XI and made a decent impact going forward, looking like one of the few Reading players eager to take on his man. Defensively he didn't do much wrong.

Michael Morrison - 3

A real absence of leadership from Morrison who needed to step up and keep the defence organised next to the debutante Gibson. Positioned himself well to head away the danger at times.

Lewis Gibson - 3

A rather poor debut for the Everton loanee, capped with a shocking back pass that was pounced upon for Stoke's third goal. Looked comfortable on the ball when Reading were keeping a hold of it in the early stages but looked less comfortable in a defensive capacity, worryingly. Also spurned a huge chance in the first-half at the back post.

Omar Richards - 6

One of the few Reading players who were decenttoday. providing a good offensive theat on the left. Delivered some great crosses which weren't met by his team-mates. Needed more support out wide.

Tomas Esteves - 4

Produced a schoolboy error for the opening goal, heading straight back into the danger area. Wayward crosses more often than not, but did at least try something different with a few efforts from range.

Josh Laurent - 5

Recovered the ball well in the middle of the pitch but was overly cautious with his passing and slow to get the ball forward.

Andy Rinomhota - 5

Pressed and harried the Stoke midfield and gave the defence good support.

Alfa Semedo - 5

Came close twice early on with two headers, the first of which he really should've done better with. Maintained the ball well with some nice touches.

George Puscas - 3

Largely anonymous. Did hold the ball up well at times but his off the ball runs were easily read on almost every occassion.

Lucas Joao - 3

Seemed to have his back away from goal more than facing the goal throughout. Lost the physical battle against a very strong Stoke defence and didn't seem to have the same willingness to drive at the opposition.

SUBS

Michael Olise - 4

Eager to get on the ball and try something but couldn't produce any magic as he was closely watched by the away side. His crossing was poor.

Sam Baldock - 4

Provided an injection of energy in the wide areas, but failed to produce anything of note. Spurned a good chance from close range on the spin late on.

Sone Aluko - 5

Came on for the final fifteen minutes and did at least to try something different as he cut inside, without any end result sadly.
