Here are our player ratings from Reading's disappointing 3-0 home defeat against Preston North End.

Rafael - 6

Guessed the right way to save a spot kick from Daniel Johnson and, in all fairness, wasn't at fault for any of the goals. Produced a couple of great stops as well, but struggled to find his many regularly enough with some poor distribution.

Tomas Esteves - 4

Supported the attack well on the overlap as we've become accustomed to seeing but needed to get tighter to his man, affording a bit too much space in the wide areas at times.

Omar Richards - 4

Combined well with Sone Aluko, especially at the end of the first-half, to carve out a few crossing opportunities. Kept driving up the wing but left a fair bit of space in behind.

Tom McIntyre - 2

A calamitous evening for Mcintyre who came into the side in place of the injured Liam Moore. Conceded a penalty, misjudged a long ball forward which led to Preston's second and was slow to react to Barkhuizen's movement for Preston's late third. A real night to forget.

Michael Morrison - 4

Strong in the air but needed to do more to use his experience and keep the defensive shape in the absence of Liam Moore as the game went on. Passed the ball relatively well, but lost his temper in the second half at times and needed to remain calm.

Andy Rinomhota - 5

Broke up the play in the middle of the park but was a bit lazy with his passing and surrendered possession with some erratic distribution.

Josh Laurent - 4

Struggled in the transition between defence and attack and needed to do more to support the forward players.

Michael Olise  - 5

Looked good in possession but went missing for long periods, especially in the first half as Reading struggled to create much. Needed to take the game by the scruff of the neck and demand the ball, as he looked dangerous when in possession.

Alfa Semedo - 4

Battled well and maintained possession well in a few tight spots but never looked likely to carve many opportunities out when in possession. Wasted a few chances with poor decision making.

Sone Aluko - 6

Looked to drive at his man throughout and produced some really good deliveries into the danger area. Unlucky not to score in the first-half after some really good work in the area.

Lucas Joao - 4

Got into good positions but didn't show the composure that we've seen so often so far this season and spurned a number of decent opportunities. Came close with an excellent header in the first half and was unlucky not to score.

SUBS

Sam Baldock - 5

Keen to get on the ball and impress and made some good runs both on and off the ball.

George Puscas - 4

Missed a good chance at the back post after heading wide. Got his head up well and picked out some nice passes.

Andy Yiadom - 4

Got the last fifteen minutes on his return from injury but didn't really make much of an impression against a stubborn Preston defence.
