Here are our player ratings from Reading's brilliant opening day triumph at Pride Park.

Rafael - 7

A quiet afternoon for Rafael, such was the quality of the performance of the defence in front of him. Nevertheless, he commanded his area fantastically and claimed almost every cross with supreme confidence.

Andy Yiadom - 8

Offensively, Yiadom was fantastic. Marauded up and down the right hand side and provided another option going forward. Defensively, he was very solid as well.

Liam Moore - 8

Back to the Liam Moore we all know. A real captains performance, led by example - brave in the challenge, communicated really effectively and snuffed out danger more often than not.

Michael Morrison - 8

Similar to Moore, Morrison was back to his best today. A colossus in the air and really good with the ball at his feet. Clearly trusted by Paunovic, who relayed a lot of instructions to him.

Omar Richards - 8

Looked very assured and dealt with more-or-less everything down his flank with ease as well as providing a good attacking threat.

Josh Laurent – 8

Broke up the play effectively in the middle of the pitch and alongside Rinomhota gave the creative midfields further forward a license to attack.

Andy Rinomhota – 8

No surprise to see Rinomhota impress again in the middle of the pitch. A really tenacious and energetic performance which gave the defence a lot of protection.

John Swift – 7

A touch quiet at points, but when he did get on the ball – he looked assured and confident and did a really good job at dictating the tempo in the early stages. Spurned a couple of good chances, but we'll let him off today!

Ovie Ejaria – 9

Rounded off a stunning bit of play for Reading’s second goal. His link-up play was a joy to watch at times with Joao and he looked a lot more direct than last season.

Michael Olise – 7

Picked up his first assist of the season with a gorgeous delivery to the front post which was converted by Joao. The only thing bringing down the rating was at times he was a bit hesitant at points, but all in all a very good showing.

Lucas Joao - 9

Ten last week and nine this week - not a bad start to the campaign! Joao's hold-up play, close control and willingness to drive at the Derby defence was a joy to watch.

SUBS

Sam Baldock - 6

Energetic out on the wing after he was brought onto the field and provide an outlet as Derby pushed to get back into the game.

Sone Aluko - 5

Not a huge impact, but not a bad performance either.

Tom Holmes - 5

Provided a defensive reinforcement in the closing stages.
