A new era has began at Reading Football Club with the new manager Veljko Paunović keen to put his stamp on the club.

Major changes got under way at the beginning of the summer break, with over 20 first team and U23 players being released.

The Reading Chronicle understands that there are more changes to come within the playing staff at the club.

New Reading FC manager Veljko Paunovic speaks ahead of clash with Derby County

Premier League 'in conversation' with EFL over financial aid for clubs

In his first interview since becoming Reading’s manager, Paunović said “the team is not completed”.

This remark is coupled with first team coach John O’Shea’s comments, after Reading’s 3-1 win against Colchester in the Carabao cup, in an interview with the Reading Chronicle where he stated that 'there will be lots happening. All positive, hopefully' in regards to transfers.

These comments from two of the most prominent people at the Club reaffirm the Chronicle’s understanding that we will see many incomings (at this point, thought to be between four and eight) in the coming weeks, who will hopefully be the “enthusiastic, talented and eager to contribute to the club and community” players that Veljko talks about in his first interview.

However, we understand that fans could still see the back of first team players this transfer window.

Jordan Holsgrove is understood to be leaving Reading permanently to join Celta Vigo. The young player spent last season on loan in Spain and clearly made a name for himself throughout the competitive league system.

Other players such as Marc McNulty, Sam Smith and Tennai Watson will all likely be facing moves away from the club.

Emerging on Wednesday morning, it is reported that Rafael, Reading’s goalkeeper and last years player of the season, is in talks with premier league clubs over a possible move.

The Brazilian spoke to ESPN, where he proclaimed that “There are some conversations going on. I want to stay in England. If my club decides it's good, I'm a professional. I have the dream of going to the Premier League and when you have the chance it is your wish. We have some interested clubs that we are talking about.”

With the club announcing Quinton Fortune, as anticipated by the Chronicle, and Nuno Gomes as first team coaches on Tuesday, it is expected that Marko Mitrovic will join the club in the near future as assistant manager.

This will mean that Reading have a hefty amount of first team coaches; as a result of this current assistant manager Eddie Niedzwiecki is understood to be leaving the club having held talks about his future over the course of this week.
