Reading fell to a 4-1 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur in North London on Friday afternoon.

After beating Gillingham at the Madejski Stadium last week, Reading's pre-season continued at the home of the 2019 Champions League finalists with Mark Bowen naming an unchanged side in what could well be the final game of his tenure at the helm.

The hosts raced into a three-goal lead before the half time break.

The first goal courtesy of an own goal from Omar Richards, who could do little but to turn the ball into his own net after a shot from Heung Min-Son cannonned off of Michael Morrison.

A sumptuous chip from England midfielder Dele Alli gave Spurs a 2-0 lead before Heung Min Son got the goal his first half performance deserved, scoring from just inside the area with a composed finish.

Spurs added to their lead early in the second half, after second substitute Erik Lamela floated an accurate free-kick out of the reach of Rafael and into the bottom corner for the hosts' fourth goal.

Substitute George Puscas pulled one back for Reading from the penalty spot in the second half.

Tom Holmes had seen his close range effort richochet back off of the post before the referee blew for a handball in the following goalmouth scramble.

Puscas stepped up and drilled the spot kick beyond Gazzaniga to make it 4-1, which is how the game finished.
