Reading FC youngster Gabriel Osho has rejected a new contract offer, the Reading Chronicle understands.

It is thought that Osho has rejected the deal as he wanted assurances over first team football.

Reading FC boss Mark Bowen has previously spoken of his eagerness to tie down Osho on a long-term deal and look to build a team around him and other young academy graduates Tom Mcintyre and Michael Olise.

However, it is understood that Osho was not happy with the assurances offered to him by the club and currently will leave on a free deal, unless the club can convince him of his future prospects at the Madejski Stadium.

Fellow academy graduate Tom Holmes could come into Mark Bowen's thoughts ahead of the new season, should Osho depart.

The 20-year-old defender spent last season on loan at Belgian second tier side KSV Roeselare.
