Reading have confirmed the release of five first-team players including long serving trio Jordan Obita, Chris Gunter and Garath McCleary.
Charlie Adam and Tyler Blackett have also been released by the club as Reading attempt to rebuild following an ultimately disappointing 2019-20 season.
It has since been revealed that McCleary, who featured more than 250 times for Reading, learnt of his fate whilst on holiday.
Chris Gunter featured more than 300 times for the Reading first team after he joined alongside McCleary in 2012 for Reading's Premier League campaign.
Obita came through the clubs academy but struggled for fitness in recent years with two long term injuries sadly ruling him out of action for long spells.
Tyler Blackett ends a four-year stint at the club after more than 120 appearances since his move from Manchester United, with Adam featuring 27 times in his one season at the club.
