Former Shrewsbury Town midfielder Josh Laurent will be undergoing a medical today as Reading are set to make their first move in the Summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old midfielder had attracted attention from clubs across the Championship, but it is understood that Reading have beaten Swansea City, Cardiff City and Stoke City to the signing.
Laurent's contract at Shrewsbury expired at the end of last season after he featured more than 40 times in all competitions in the 19-20 season.
Reading have been keen on Laurent for a number of months, with manger Mark Bowen admitting his admiration for Laurent during the January transfer window.
Laurent will be officially unveiled as a Reading player in the coming days.
