Ovie Ejaria may not be returning to Reading FC next season, manager Mark Bowen has confirmed.
Reading may be forced into abandoning the deal which initially meant Ejaria would join permanently after his loan deal was completed.
It is understood that the club cannot afford to pay the initial fee and wage structure agreed between Reading and Premier League champions Liverpool before the Covid-19 outbreak hit the club's finances hard.

Player ratings: Swansea seal play-off spot at Reading FC
Speaking after his side collapsed to a 4-1 defeat against Swansea, Reading FC manager Mark Bowen said: "It is a marketplace which is fraught with danger when you haven't got a lot of money.
"With the loan players, out of contract players and who we can bring in.
"There is no point me targeting players who don't fit into our system. I want a young and dynamic team with energy and that can move the ball quickly.
"Ovie [Ejaria] hasn't been able to take part tonight through injury.
"I'm not sure if that [the agreement to sign Ejaria] is now possible due to the financial constraints."
