Reading FC concluded their preparations for the return to Championship action with an impressive 3-1 victory over Portsmouth at the Madejski Stadium on Sunday.

Lucas Joao opened the scoring for Mark Bowen's side side after half an hour, reacting quickest after John Swift struck the cross bar with a powerful free kick - controlling and finishing well from inside the area.

Bowen's men doubled the lead before half-time. Omar Richards met an inviting cross at the near post and scored with a delicate glance.
