Reading FC legend Nicky Forster completed a gruelling feat last weekend as he raised money for NHS Charities Together.

Forster, who played for Reading between 1999 and 2005, completed the marathon 26.2 miles run on a 70m track around his garden in a time of four hours and 50 minutes.

The former Royals forward had planned to run the London Marathon, which had been scheduled for last Sunday before being cancelled as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak and the subsequent national lockdown.

Nicky Forster's late strike against Wigan Athletic in 2001 remains one of the most celebrated goals in Madejski Stadium history, 19 years on.

On Forster’s Just Giving page, he had initially set a target of £500 – but has since smashed this, having raised over 700 per cent of the target (£3,683).
