Reading fans have been nominating their favourite players, first ever Royals hero, and favourite ever game on social media over the last couple of days.

Adam Le Fondre narrowly topped the list of all-time favourite Reading players of those nominations, slightly overcoming fellow forwards Jimmy Quinn, Dave Kitson and midfield magician Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Little, Mcanuff, Friday, Federici, Gunnarson, Karacan, Murty and Jordan Obita make up the remaining suggestions.

Jamie Cureton and Kevin Doyle were revealed to be the most popular nominations for first ever Royals hero, with a total of 19 players being nominated by Reading fans.

Shane Long, Phil Parkinson and Marcus Hahnemann were also notably popular suggestions for the first Royals hero.

Other players suggested included: Primus, Kebe, Horrix, Harper, Bowman, Gilkes, Hetzke, Friday, Wood, Sigurdsson, Dixon, Butler, Forster and Adam Federici.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the most popular suggestion for the most fondly remembered Royals game among the suggestions was the away triumph at St Mary’s against Southampton in the 2011-12 season.

Other fondly remembered fixtures included the 6-0 demolition of West Ham in 2006, the home triumph in the FA Cup quarter finals against Bradford and the promotion-sealing win against Nottingham Forest in 2012.

Some of the less-remembered suggestions include Chesterfield (A) in 1989, Manchester City (A) in the 2006-07 season and the 3-2 victory over Crystal Palace the season before.
