New Royals signing Felipe Araruna said Reading was the only club he wanted o join in the window as soon as he heard that Mark Bowen was interested in signing him.

Araruna made his Royals debut on the weekend, coming on in place of Chris Gunter who sustained an injury in the first half of Reading’s 1-1 draw with Hull City.

Speaking after the game, Araruna said that although he was happy to make his debut, he was hoping for a better result.

“I’m very happy for the debut but the result is now what we expected. We will have to train over the weekend to get the win on the Wednesday.

“It’s intense in the Championship but step by step and day by day I’m growing. Everyone received me very well. I’m excited [to be playing in England] my teammates helped me a lot, on the field and off the field.

“In Brazil I played as right back, I’m comfortable in that position. I’m happy to be here, I’m looking forward. Wednesday, we have to win.”

Araruna confirmed that once he heard Reading were interested in his signature, he wanted to make the move.

“I went back to Sau Paulo and had the opportunity to be here [at Reading]. I did not look at anywhere else, I just wanted to come over to Reading. I’m very happy here.

“England is a good place to play, all the players in the world want to play here.”
