READING City were beaten 2-0 at home by fellow mid-table side Virginia Water on Saturday, leaving them without a win and with just two points in six Hellenic League Premier Division games.

Dale Wright opened the scoring after 24 minutes following good work by Josh Hennah with Josh Dillon doubling the visitors' lead six minutes before half-time.

Manager Simon Johnson used three substitutes early in the second half in a bid to get back in the game, but his side were unable to take the scoring chances which came their way.

He later tweeted: "Huffed and puffed with no rewards. Undone in the first half. Important string of games coming up now and we must be better."

This coming Saturday (3pm), ninth-placed City travel to second-bottom Brimscombe & Thrupp, the first of four successive away games.

Woodley United's home Division One East, fixture with Didcot Town Development, last Monday was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch and re-arranged for next Monday.

This coming Saturday, they are due to host local rivals AFC Aldermaston at Rivermoor Stadium.

The Atom Men drew 1-1 at home to Abingdon United last weekend, their goal coming from substitute Davelinio Markus in the 78th minute after Ben Curtis had given the visitors a sixth-minute lead.

Second-in-the-table Abingdon, who had also shared two goals with Woodley United the previous Monday, ended the game with nine men after referee Simon Parbery had shown red cards to Jack Griffiths and William Leach, while skipper Harry Firkin spent time in the sin-bin.
