Reading FC vice-captain Fara Williams has been rewarded with an additional year on her contract, taking her deal until June 2021.

England’s highest cap holder, with 172, joined the Royals in 2017 and was last season’s top scorer.

The former Everton, Chelsea and Liverpool player was an integral part of the Lionesses third place finish in the 2015 World Cup.

Williams is currently joint top for the 2019-20 campaign, along with Lisa-Marie Utland, with 6 goals in all competitions thus far.

Manager Kelly Chambers awarded Williams with the vice-captaincy of the side before the 2019-20 season began and due to an injury to captain Natasha Harding, Williams has led the Royals out on several occasions this season.

Williams was named The Football Association Young Player of the Year in 2002, FA Players' Player of the Year in 2009 and FA International Player of the Year in both 2007 and 2009.
