Here is our player ratings from Reading's 1-0 triumph over QPR.

Rafael – 8

Another accomplished performance in the Reading goal from Rafael. Secured the third consecutive clean sheets with several brilliant saves to deny QPR a late equaliser, including a rather unorthodox stop with his face!

Chris Gunter – 7

Chris Gunter continues to impress following his recall into the team and did so again against QPR. Drove forward to support the attacks really well, linking up with Yakou Meite and offering another outlet on the right wing.

Defensively he did really well, apart from one moment when he was caught napping after the ball cannoned off the crossbar.

Liam Moore – 8

Stood firm throughout the game, reading the runs of Eberechi Eze especially really well. Showed composure and a cool head to keep Reading’s defensive structure with QPR pressing for a late leveller.

Michael Morrison – 7

Showed fantastic anticipation to position himself on the line and clear the ball when Eze looked like he’d equalised for the visitors. Good in the air again – I would like to see him closing down onrushing players a little quicker.

Tyler Blackett – 6

Had a tough test against Osayi-Samuel, who looked a constant threat on the right wing for QPR. That’s more a reflection of the game that the QPR man had than Blackett, who performed reasonably well for the majority of the 90 minutes.

Charlie Adam – 8

Played the ‘quarterback’ role in the Reading midfield brilliantly, especially in the first half. Pinged the ball both long and short with real accuracy, allowing his teammates to exploit the gaps.

Pele – 8

Did exactly what you want a defensive midfielder to do. Broke up the play in the middle of the pitch and provide a good outlet for the defence to play through as Reading made their way into the QPR half.

John Swift – 9

A vintage performance from John Swift, arguably his best ever in a Reading shirt. Even without taking his incredible strike into account, the rating would have been high.

Swift looked a continual threat with the ball looking to be glued at his feet at times. As mentioned, scored one of the best goals the Madejski has seen in years with a venomous half volley to secure the points.

Yakou Meite - 7

Worked tirelessly again on the right wing, driving at the QPR defence with purpose when attacking and tracking back efficiently when defending. Slowly but surely, he is making the right wing spot his own.

Ovie Ejaria – 6

Wasted a little on the left wing for me. He didn’t do anything wrong but was quiet for long periods – especially in the first half.

Lucas Joao – 8

Played the lone striker role brilliantly. Held the ball up with composure and strength, bringing others into play and creating attacking opportunities for others. Unlucky not to score with a half volley on the spin that drew a great stop from Joe Lumley.

SUBS

Andy Rinomhota 6

Added a little bit of extra energy in the middle of the pitch when he came on for Charlie Adam and helped secure the win.

Michael Olise – 5

With QPR pressing relentlessly for a late goal, Olise didn’t get the chance to show his creativity given the nature of the ending. Looked composed on the ball when in position however.

Lucas Boye – 6

Another good cameo from the bench from Boye, coming close after tenaciously battling his way into the box before seeing his effort blocked.
