READING City, whose home Hellenic League match with Ardley United was postponed last weekend, will be hoping the Rivermoor Stadium pitch will dry out in time for their attractive Boxing Day fixture against Binfield (3pm), writes Dave Wright.

The two sides are currently placed eighth and seventh respectively with the same number of points, 25, but the Moles have played five fewer games and also boast the better goal difference.

Binfield, who are also through to the fourth round of the FA Vase, boast one of the strongest sides they have had in recent seasons, with a number of players joining them from Isthmian League club Bracknell Town.

Experienced striker Jon Bennett could make his debut following his transfer from Ascot United.

City are also in action this Saturday (3pm) when they travel to Banbury to face Easington Sports, the side presently one place below them in the Premier Division standings.

In Division One East, Woodley United’s bottom-of-the-table clash at Abingdon Town last weekend was called off due to the bad weather.

This coming Saturday (3pm), they are away to fifth-placed Marlow United at the Alfred Davis Ground which the hosts share with Isthmian League club Marlow. The pitch was unplayable last weekend.

AFC Aldermaston have not played since the 0-0 draw with Thame Rangers on December 7th and that looks set to be their only game of the month.

Their home game with Wokingham & Emmbrook did not take place last weekend, and the fixture they had scheduled for this coming Saturday against Holyport, has already been listed as postponed.

Aldermaston Reserves have been drawn at home to unbeaten Thames Valley Premier League Division One leaders Wargrave in the quarter-final of the Berks & Bucks Saturday Intermediate Cup with the tie due to take place on January 18.

The rest of the draw is KS Gryf v Newport Pagnell Town or APBS, Aylesbury Dynamos v Thatcham Town Development, Old Windsor v Stokenchurch or Iver Heath.

The Thames Valley Premier and Reading Sunday League will resume their fixtures - weather permitting - on January 4th and 5th respectively.
