Here are our player ratings from Reading’s 3-0 triumph over Derby County on Saturday.

Rafael – 8/10

Made several impressive stops to maintain his clean sheet and Reading’s lead. Although the woodwork rescued him twice from long range efforts, it was an impressive display from the Brazillian goalkeeper.

Chris Gunter – 6/10

Gunter maintained his good run of form with another decent display against Derby. Gave Reading more width offensively, bombing up and down the right wing to support the forward players. Did leave a few spaces when doing so but ultimately was not punished.

Liam Moore – 5/10

Backed off a little too much for my liking at times. Derby’s forwards let him off the hook, failing to take their chances. A second consecutive clean sheet will definitely please the skipper, but Reading were lucky not to concede.

Michael Morrison – 5/10

Similarly, Morrison could have got closer to the opposition when Derby came forward at pace. He was impressive as ever in the air.

Tyler Blackett – 4/10

A lot of Derby’s opportunities came down the right wing. Blackett was targeted for long spells of the game for good reason, he did look like the weak point of Reading’s defence against The Rams.

Charlie Adam – 7/10

Stepped up confidently and gave Reading the lead from 12 yards with his first goal for the club. From then on, Adam produced a classy display, spraying passes into spaces so Reading could capitalize upon the man advantage.

Ovie Ejaria – 6/10

Playing in an unfavoured wide role, Ejaria didn’t quite have the same influence as he does when he’s playing in the middle. When he did get on the ball, his close control was as mesmerizing as ever.

Andy Rinomhota – 4/10

Suffering with illness, Rinomhota was understandably a little bit off the pace and found himself being overran in the middle of the park.  His passing also wasn’t as efficient as we have seen previously.

Yakou Meite – 9/10

His best display in a Reading shirt for a fair while, in my eyes. Meite was brilliant out on the wing, displaying strength and pace as he tried to drive forward on the ball. Deserved his goal not only for his brilliant offensive display, but his tireless work out of possession.

Sam Baldock – 6/10

Reading fans have become accustomed to Baldock’s work rate and witnessed another energetic display against Derby. Didn’t get on the score sheet but nevertheless, worked very hard to close down the Derby defence when they had the ball and made some good runs off the ball into the gaps.

Lucas Joao – 6/10

Another well taken goal for Joao who now has three in his last four games. Took too much time on the ball and was caught napping occasionally but other than that a solid performance.

SUBS

John Swift – 8/10

Showed Reading what they had been missing in his absence almost immediately after coming on, threading a beautiful low cross to give Joao a chance he couldn’t miss.

Pele – 6/10

Industrious, composed and solid without being outstanding. Boosted Reading’s midfield in a defensive capacity and did the dirty work well without really catching the eye.

Lucas Boye – 4/10

On another day, he could have had a goal and an assist. It wasn’t to be for Boye however who should have done better after some tidy work from Chris Gunter found him in space in the area.
