Reading full back Omar Richards has said that he does not believe the clubs league position is a fair reflection of the sides quality.

Speaking ahead of the clash with Birmingham City this weekend, Richards said: "I think even us as a squad that we have been doing quite well.

"We looked at the table and we are still 18th, but of course we're looking to climb up the table and get the points on the board and Saturday is a good opportunity to do that.

The Royals starlet also said that the players are looking forward to the run of fixtures leading up to the Chrismtas period, and see them as a chance to start climbing the table.

"We see this as an opportunity to get a lot of points on the board. Some would say we are favorites for a lot of those games but we do not want to get complacent. We know the task ahead.

Omar Richards also said that the fact the last three goals Reading have conceded were from crosses is a 'coincidence'.

"We work on all sorts of defensive situations in training. I feel like those goals have been coincidence maybe. It is nothing to do with poor defensive shape, some of the goals we have just been caught out a little bit.

Richards also praised the increased intensity and scrutiny the side are put under training under Mark Bowen.

"You can feel the change, you can feel a different aura in the training ground since the new gaffer has come in. It has felt really positive. He is trying to get a lot out of us and everyone is clued in to what he is trying to do.

"It has showed in some of the games and some of the results."
