The Reading Chronicle spoke to Leeds United fan Stephen Allan ahead of tomorrow night's game at the Madejski Stadium.

How will Leeds set up against Reading?

Unless any injuries are picked up in training or Liam Cooper recovers in time I’d expect the 11 to stay as is. Bielsa will rarely change a winning team, even when we lose he rarely changes the starting lineup the next game. Injuries and suspensions are usually the only real factors to consider when predicting the next Leeds line up.

What do you expect from the game?

It would be naive to expect this to be an easy game but if we are to show true promotion candidates it’s a game we’d expect to win. Last season was a stroll at Reading and I expect a very different game. Reading seem to have picked up results since the new manager come in so this will be a tough game. Patrick Bamford has brushed off the cobwebs scoring in the last 2 games and will be determined to right his wrongs of the game back in March.

How would you describe your season so far?

One word, frustrating. Despite being 4 points and 1 place better off than this stage last season fans and pundits alike seem to agree that we’ve not quite hit the same heights. This can be put down to one major factor, the inability to convert chances. This cost us in the end last season and so far it appears we’ve not quite learnt our lesson.

Our defence has improved massively which was a surprise following the shock sale of Pontus Jansson who was replaced by the relatively unknown Ben White. This turned out to be a master stroke from Victor Orta and Marcelo Bielsa as what White lacks in reputation he more than makes up with on the pitch. Skilful on the ball with a knack of carrying it out of defence without leaving us too open.

Who is the key man for you?

Kalvin Phillips. Absolute colossus in midfield, wins everything and carries defence into attack masterfully. If we don’t get promoted in the summer he’ll definitely be of interest to a top flight team. Having turned down offers from 3 teams in the summer including a £25 million offer from Villa you’d hope that we can match his ambition to play top flight football.

What have you made of Reading so far?

Obviously the start wasn’t the best however seem to have recovered since the somewhat unexpected new manager appointment. Spent a bit on new recruits in the summer (Joao and Puscas) so thought the league position was false especially after watching the demolition of Cardiff earlier in the season. Think it’ll be a bit of a reach for anything other than mid table mediocrity however I’m sure they’ll be comfortably safe and move up the league in the next few months (after Tuesday of course).

Score prediction

0-2 Leeds, Bamford and Hernandez to score.
