LAST weekend saw the results of the recent wet weather with all of the local rivers in different stages of flooding, writes Alan Hughes.

The River Kennet was very high and the Thames not far behind.

Two matches on the RDAA stretches were called off with one going on the Kennet & Avon Canal and the other onto a RDAA lake.

Reading Civil Service fished their match on the canal at Salmon Cut, Aldermaston.

With a lock closed for repair there was no flow and the canal was crystal clear which did not bode well for the anglers.

Phil Oram took top spot with a perch and a gudgeon which totalled 5ozs.

Six very small silvers gave Les Hannington second spot with 3ozs and two ounces behind was Richard Munday.

Prestcold A.C. elected to fish Brown Lee Pool where again things proved difficult.

Roy Green took the honours with 8lbs 8ozs which consisted of one carp of 3lbs 13ozs and some roach and rudd.

The runner-up was Mark Steadman, who also had a carp of 3lbs along with some small roach to weigh in 3lbs 3ozs.

Graham Hawkins weighed in 15ozs of roach to complete the top trio. All of the top three were drawn in the deeper water and those that did not never had a bite.

The additional RDAA match scheduled for this Sunday at Wallingford has been cancelled due to the floods and will now be fished at Froxfield on the Kennet & Avon Canal.

Places can be booked with Mike Sheasby on 07802 414317.

The draw will be held at 8am in the Borough Arms in Hungerford and breakfast will be available from 7am.
