In Division One, Kingfisher A beat their B team clubmates 7-3, despite Martin Adams completing a treble for the beaten side.

Tilehurst Methodists A and Our Lady of Peace C fought out a 5-5 draw in Division Two, Eric Van Looy with another treble for Tilehust as well as teaming up with reserve Martin Wetherell to win the doubles.

Milestone B beat Curzon Club C 6–4 in Division Three thanks to a very good treble from Shawnik Thakur and a double from Olly Bonser.

For Curzon Paul Treadgold obtained a fine double to maintain his good form.

Elsewhere there was cup action.

The first round of the Lower Divisions knockout competition saw convincing 9-0 victories for both Tidmarsh C and Kingfisher F.

The Tidmarsh Trio of Ian Wu, Spencer Harvey and Richard Hudson were exceptional in defeating Sonning Sports B without dropping a game in any set.

Against Kingfisher, Sonning Common and Peppard F will feel unlucky not to pick up at least three sets, going down 12-10 in the deciding game in each of them.

Elsewhere Tidmarsh D recorded an 8-1 win over Sonning Common and Peppard G where the Mark Berry and Andrew Stone pairing picked up Sonning’s consolation set.

Reading FC B secured an 8-1 victory at Sonning Sports C in a match much closer than the scoreline suggests.

After John Scott and Stephen Reader took the opening set for the Sports side, Reading FC reeled off the next eight sets for the win, although needing a deciding game in five of them.

The closest match of the round saw Kingfisher G overcome OLOP E 5-4.

All OLOP’s sets were won in two-straight games, whereas all of Kingfisher’s five sets required a deciding game, two of which went to deuce in the decider.

Only two matches were played in the Team Handicap.

In round one, Sonning Sports B saw off a spirited Kingfisher H side 6-3, Himanshu Pasbola taking set eight for the match and in the process securing a convincing maximum.

Haris Munir replyied with two sets for Kingfisher.

In a second round match, there was another 6-3 scoreline with Kingfisher F progressing against Springfield D.

Colin Jones took set one for Springfield, but by the time Chris Taylor had taken set seven, Kingfisher had wrapped up the match.

There were two sets apiece for Eric Holmes, Ruben Hernandez and Peter Bennett seeing Kingfisher home, while Jones matched that effort for Springfield.
