READING Abbey Nuns turned on the style as they crushed Guildford 55-10 in round two of the Intermediate Cup.

Nine well-orchestrated tries were scored by the hosts by six different players, turning around a nervy 12-7 win over the same opponents from two weeks ago into a thrashing, with three of the scores coming from a strong bench of finishers including pacey Lia Gingell and Precious Ampontuah.

Abbey opened the scoring with an Alice Denton try, and by the break led convincingly with Harri Driver and Annette Bevan both also crossing the whitewash.

Denton doubled her tally at the start of the second half, only for Guildford to hit back with a try of their own.

But Abbey's superior fitness began to shine through, with Ampontuah, Abi Wall, Bevan and latterly Gingell with a scintillating double, ensuring a comprehensive victory.

Abbey Nuns will hope to back up their performance in Championship South West when they visit Ellingham and Ringwood on Sunday.
