IT doesn’t get much better than that – what a performance England put in last Saturday to beat New Zealand and secure their place in the final.

The power and energy was unbelievable and the handling was just something else, from the front row to the backs, and if they can maintain that again on Saturday against South Africa they'll surely come home with the trophy.

In my opinion, it was the best England performance of all time, and the best match of the tournament.

England, in the space of two weeks, have destroyed two southern hemisphere giants and winning the World Cup this weekend would make it three – no Northern hemisphere side has ever done that.

In the other semi-final, Wales played a lot better than the previous week, but they must be kicking themselves after being edged out 19-16.

They had the ability to win, but just could not do what was required of them, playing the game back into the Boks hands.

On the local front London Irish took a 41-7 thumping against Sale.

The men in green were just unable to stop the Sharks' power, built by the forwards and the tactical kicking of fly-half Rob du Preez, who played the conditions well.

Let’s hope this week they can get a result away at Saracens.

Rams also went down 21-11 to Bishops Stortford, which would have been a bit of a shock, but they'll hope to bounce back at home to Cinderford.

My boys Reading also lost, 26-8 to league leaders Witney, but they made the Oxfordshire side fight all the way though the game.

In fact we were only 12-8 down at half-time, and were still very much in the game, with the hosts only really putting the game to bed with their last try in the 78th minute.

Reading Abbey picked up a bonus-point from their defeat to Wallingford, but all those sides can look forward to a rest this weekend and the chance to really enjoy the final.

The only winning team in Reading last Saturday was resurgent Berkshire Shire Hall, who edged out Aldermaston 17-10.

Enjoy your weekend and if you get the chance to watch the final at your local club, try to make the most of it.
