READING City endured a challenging week as they slipped to a brace of Premier Division defeats, going down 3-1 at home to Fairford Town on Saturday before slipping to a 2-0 reverse at Burnham on Tuesday, writes Richard Ashton.

Things had started brightly at The Rivermoor Stadium against Fairford as McKoy Palmer continued his fine form by putting the Citizens in front inside 60 seconds.

However, they again shot themselves in the foot by receiving a fourth red card in as many games, Matt Stockhill receiving his marching orders in the 22nd minute.

City showed tremendous heart to reach half-time with their lead in tact, but Fairford came flying out of the blocks and equalised in the 48th minute thanks to Connor Thompson.

The visitors started to crank up the pressure and moved in front 10 minutes later, Nathan Hawkins firing past Charlie York.

Reading City began to fightback, but they suffered a fatal blow on 77 minutes as Mason Thompson made it 3-1.

Against Burnham, goals from Gavin James and Joey Gritt gave the Blues all three points.

Aside from their two defeats, City have also lost two players in the past week, with Yashwa Romeo leaving to become assistant manager at Northwood, and Devonn Reid joining Marlow.

However, manager Simon Johnson has bolstered his ranks by signing Nico Commack from AFC Aldermaston.

Sixth-placed Reading City will hope to return to winning ways when they visit basement boys Brimscombe & Thrupp on Saturday (3pm), before travelling to second-bottom Holmer Green on Tuesday (7.45pm).

Woodley United's Bluefin Sports Supplementary Cup clash at Chalfont Wasps was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch on Saturday.

The Kestrels were due to visit Thame Rangers in Division One East last night.

They then have a long break until their next scheduled fixture at Holyport on Saturday, November 16.

AFC Aldermaston eased to a 3-0 success at home to Taplow United.

Monay Chandler-Mills gave the Atom Men a 40th-minute lead from the penalty spot after Tyrese Corbin-Chandler had been felled in the box.

The duo combined to double the lead 10 minutes from time, Chandler-Mills this time the provider as Corbin-Chandler slotted home from his square ball.

Any hopes of a Taplow comeback were ended five minutes later, George Dallarda adding a final gloss to the scoreline.

AFC Aldermaston are without a game this weekend, returning to action at home to Marlow United on Saturday, November 9.
