READING men secured just their second point of the season when the held fellow Premier Division strugglers Beeston to a 2-2 draw in Nottingham on Saturday, writes Dave Wright.

They took a 17th-minute lead through Charlie Ellison's penalty corner and when Andy Oxburgh made it 2-0 on the half-hour mark, the Blues looked to be in with a good chance of recording their first win in seven games.

But two minutes later Chris Proctor brought Beeston back in the game and he went on to net the equaliser seven minutes from time.

Reading are without a league fixture this coming weekend.

Unbeaten Reading 2nds remain top of MBBO Regional One following their 5-3 victory at home to Newbury & Thatcham, while the 3rds are ninth in the table after winning 3-2 at Eastcote thanks to goals from Jarrod Casey, Joe Rogers and Kayron Stagno.

In MBBO Regional Two, Reading 4ths lost 4-2 at home to Wallingford, their goals coming from Oliver Clark and Jackson Corry-Duff.

Reading Women suffered their first defeat of the season in Investec League Division One South, going down 1-0 at leaders Wimbledon, who had also gone into the game boasting a 100 per cent record.

The only goal in a very closely-fought encounter was scored by Olivia Chilton in the 56th minute, with Reading's hopes of replying being dashed by their former goalie Aurora Mears.

Reading are without a league game this coming weekend.

In South Clubs Women's League Division One, Reading 2nds lost 4-1 at home to London Wayfarers.

Sonning ladies crushed local rivals Reading 3rds 8-1 in the South Clubs League Division 3a, their goals being shared by Wendy Doolin, Ruth Purdy, Katie Pake and Rachel Muncey.

Sonning are third in the table and visit West Hampstead on Saturday.

Unbeaten Sonning 2nds replaced Phoenix and Ranelagh at the summit of Trysports Three Counties League Premier Two by defeating them 3-0 at the Reading University Sportspark.

Sonning men won 5-2 at Harrow to stay second behind South Berkshire in MBBO Regional Two with Steve Crowther and Nick Leach both netting twice and Huw Thomas once.

This Saturday (noon) they host Milton Keynes 2nds at Berks County Sports Club.

In MBBO Division One, Sonning 2nds drew 4-4 at home to OMT 2nds with Matt Poulton (2), Joe Pook and Ian Ta on target.
