AS the autumn weather starts to come in we can expect more rain which should liven the rivers up, writes Alan Hughes.

Last weekend there were four Clubs out on RDAA waters with two on the Thames and two on the Kennet & Avon Canal.

Prestcold held their match on the little used stretch of the Thames at Northmoor.

The river was only just fishable with floodwater, but the roach still fed with Geoff Eley taking the honours with 6lbs 2ozs.

The runner-up was match secretary Mick Sheasby, with similar species to the winner with 3lbs 4ozs. Completing the top three was John Main with 1lb 15ozs.

Also on the Thames, but at Mapledurham, were Reading Civil Service, where roach again were the prominent species.

Phil Allen took the top spot with 5lbs 11ozs. In second place was Richard Munday with the usual roach net which weighed in at 4lbs 5ozs and in third spot was Alan Tucker with 3lbs 9ozs which included a roach of 1lb 4ozs.

Leading the way was Alan Powell with 5lbs 14ozs of all silver fish.

John Clements claimed second spot with 5lbs 4ozs of silvers and with a mainly perch net in third spot was Terry Smith 4lbs 3ozs.
