EIGHTEEN anglers were booked in for an additional RDAA match where the weather was overcast with rain at times, cool and with a strong wind blowing.

The total match weight was 88lbs 1ozs at an average weight of 4lbs 14ozs per angler.

The match was won by John Jackson of Courage.

Fishing the second peg upstream of Rosekiln Lane road bridge on the "stallions" on Beat 4B section, he banked mainly roach and perch fishing stick float tactics, with single and double red maggot on the hook, over hemp, caster and maggot feed, to record a weight of 10lbs 2ozs.

Ian Claridge of Courage was second overall fishing the "wire peg" peg on Beat 4B.

Claridge also banked mainly roach and perch fishing similar tactics to the winner to record a weight of 9lbs 15ozs.

Section weights: A section (Beat 4B) – 43lbs 8ozs; B section (Beats 5A & B) – 44lbs 9ozs.

This coming Sunday will see the monthly Association match and this will be fished on the Beats 4 & 5 section of the Kennet.

Reading Fishing Club held their match on the RDAA stretch of the Thames at Wallingford B, where the strong wind saw several expensive kit blown into the river.

John Ambrose took the honours with 11lbs 12ozs of pole caught roach.

The runner-up spot was claimed by George Callaghan, again with roach which totalled 10lbs 2ozs.

Pete Budaji caught similar species to take 6lbs 2ozs to the scales.
