OUR Lady of Peace Premier showed they mean business on their return to Division One of the Reading & District League after they won 7-3 at last season’s runners-up Kingfisher B, Liam McTiernan starring with a treble which included a dramatic win over Martin Adams.

Kingfisher A managed a 6-4 win at Tidmarsh B thanks to Hari Gehlot‘s maximum and two from Sachin Kapoor, while Kingfisher C triumphed 6-4 at Curzon Club A in their opener, Alan Cummings and Nigel Keedy earning fine maximums.

Sonning Common & Peppard B came out on top 7-3 in their derby against Sonning Common & Peppard C thanks to a treble from Andy Wang and two for Brian Meheux.

For the C team Matt Stone was in fine form as he picked up two wins.

Ray Webb and Tony Baker both got trebles as Tidmarsh A started with an 8-2 win at Kennet Valley A, while Sonning Common & Peppard A were held to a 5-5 draw at promoted Springfield A, new recruit Graham Diplock getting a maximum for Springfield alongside a good opening double from Phil Burke.

Springfield B suffered a 10-0 defeat following their promotion to Division Two with Our Lady of Peace A running out winners thanks to trebles from Benedict Carless, Darek Kaminski and Chris West.

Eric Van Looy showed his class as Tilehurst Methodists A won 8-2 at home to Our Lady of Peace B, Phil Jones also getting a maximum for Tilehurst.

Jon Abbott was unbeaten as Sonning Common & Peppard D beat Pangbourne A 7-3.

Paul Savage got a maximum and Nick Shears won twice as Sonning Sports A won 6-4 at Kingfisher D, while Kingfisher E and Our Lady of Peace C shared the points as they finished all square at 5-5, Savva Christodoulou with a maximum on his Kingfisher debut.

Dave Sanket and Zoltan Keleman both got maximums as Milestone A started with an 8-2 win against Our Lady of Peace D.

Our Lady of Peace E started off the season in Division Three by gaining a draw with Tilehurst Methodists B mainly thanks to a stunning three-straight maximum from Mo Cook.

As expected Reading FC A’s new signing Michael Childs hit a fairly easy treble to help them beat Curzon Club B 7–3, while possible title favourites Tidmarsh C had a fine 8-2 win at Springfield C with Ian Wu starring with a hat-trick.

Dave Edwards hit a treble to help Tidmarsh D win 6-4 at Kingfisher F, while fortunes were reversed for the Kingfisher G team as they won 6-4 at Sonning Sports B thanks to a great maximum from Andrew Adair.

In Division Four, Springfield D took advantage of Tidmarsh E’s early-season injury woes to record an 8-2 victory, with Paul Martin recording a maximum.

Sonning Common & Peppard G lost 6-4 at home to Reading FC B, despite Melvyn Lovegrove winning all three.

Harry Edwards, Derek Anderson and debutant Freedom Agindotan all won twice for Reading FC.

Milestone C were blown away by Sonning Common & Peppard E, losing 9-1, Jim Warren and Anthony Reeve both leaving with maximums for the victors.

Sonning Common & Peppard F recorded a 7-3 win over Our Lady of Peace F, with no-one remaining undefeated.

Mike Casserley, Derek Brooke-Wavell and Julian James all recorded two wins for Sonning Common.

Sonning Sports C fell to a 7-3 defeat at the hands of Kingfisher H.
