LAST Sunday saw the September association match fished on the Beats on the River Kennet in Reading, writes Alan Hughes.

The prize for the winner was the Association Cup and Fericon Press trophies.

Forty anglers were booked in and the weather was dry and warm with sunny intervals.

The total match weight on the day was 129lbs 5ozs, at an average of 3lbs 11ozs per angler.

The top three teams were Reading Fishing Club with 30lbs 1oz, TRBLAS with 25lbs 2ozs and Courage with 18lbs 8ozs.

Many thanks to all those who turned out on the day and thanks also go to the management team at Green Park, who kindly allowed the organisers to use 100 Longwater car park as the draw headquarters due to the Reading Triathlon being held at Pingewood.

The match was won by Martin Hutchins of Excelsior.

Fishing on the second peg below the white bridge on Beat 5A section, Hutchins banked roach, perch and dace to record a weight of 9lbs 15ozs.

Paul Mason of Yotac/21 Club was second overall. Fishing the wire peg on Beat 4B Section, he banked mainly roach with a few perch to weigh in 9lbs 4ozs.

Veteran Dave Bosher of Reading Fishing Club was third.

Fishing on the first peg upstream of the blue barge on Beat 5A section, Bosher banked roach and bleak to record a weight of 9lbs 1oz.

Section weights: A section (Beat 3B) – 23lbs 8ozs; B section (Beats 4A & 4B) – 23lbs 3ozs; C section (Beats 4B & 5A) – 57lbs 12ozs; D section (Beats 5A & 5B) – 24lbs1 2ozs.

Reading Fishing Club top the Championship table with 99lbs 14ozs with TRBLAS in second place with 72lbs 9ozs..

Terry Littlewood tops the weight table with 36lbs 8ozs, with Mason on 19lbs 7ozs.

The points table is tied between Mick Donohoe, Mason and Richard Rosinski, who all have 22 points.
