FORMER Reading Cricket Club all-rounder Martin Andersson, now a professional with Middlesex, has had his season severely restricted by a back injury.

So it's good to see him back in action for Middlesex 2nds in recent weeks. He skippered them in their drawn game with Ireland last week, with his side containing Berkshire players Jack Davies, Dan Lincoln, Andy Rishton and newcomer Luke Hollman, who made his county debut against Cheshire this week.

At the moment he is concentrating on his batting, which must be frustrating for the former Reading Blue Coat pupil as last season he showed a lot of promise with the ball, taking 12 first-class wickets at an average of 19.91 for Middlesex.

READING AC were in record-breaking form at the Olympic track in East London last Sunday.

The Under 13 girls set a new club record in the ClubConnect relays with a time of 52.08 seconds, beating the previous best of 52.72. Their reward for winning was a £250 prize.

On an ultra-fast surface, Reading U17 women (49.41) and U17 (42:38) men also recorded new club records times, while the U15 boys and U20 women clocked their fastest times of the season with 45.69 and 50.48 respectively.

Mark Andrew is the latest club member to show the importance of loyalty to clubs like Reading Roadunners.

He was their top finisher in the Hell-Fire Half Marathon, coming home 51st in a time of 1hr 36mins 56secs on the tough West Wycombe course.

But instead of going home to put his feet up for the rest of Sunday, he called in at Palmer Park on the way home to support his Roadrunners colleagues and soon volunteered to compete in the triple jump, finishing third with 8.74 metres to pick up six points to boost his team’s total.

AN exhibition of the history of local football is being planned in Woodley.

The Town Council, along with representatives from clubs, are looking to put on a display at the Oakwood Centre.

They are currently seeking stories, memorabilia, information and photos - particularly from the 1960s to the 1980s.
