LAST Sunday saw three RDAA Club matches with each on varied venues, writes Alan Hughes.

Prestcold fished their match on the River Kennet at Beat 3B (backwater) at Fobney Island.

Geoff Eley took the honours with 12lbs 10ozs which included a barbel of 10lbs 15ozs.

Fishing the last peg on the venue, Eley alternated between stick float and maggot feeder using maggot as hookbait.

Match secretary for both Prestcold and RDAA, Mike Sheasby took the runner-up spot with 2lbs 14ozs of silvers caught on the stick float.

Completing the top trio was Graham Hawkins with 2lbs again consisting of silvers.

T.R.B.L.A.S. fished the Thames at Goring and nine anglers made the trip, which was won by Peter Godfrey with a very good catch of over 260 bleak and a few other silvers for 10lbs 13ozs.

This was a good decision to go for the bleak as the pike were in a feeding frenzy and attacked most roach which were hooked.

In second place was Andy Chapman with an impressive bag of roach which was only 9ozs behind the winner.

Chapman caught most of the roach on hemp or corn. Third place went to Fred Jones who weighed in 7lbs 11ozs.

Longwater Lake in Green Park was the venue for Newtown A.C. where twelve anglers turned out for a 7am draw.

Taking the honours was in-form Robin Reynolds with 7lbs 4ozs of silvers.

Similar species took second and third places. with Dermot Murphy weighing in 3lbs 2ozs and Roger Saunders 2lbs 1oz.
