Twyford were edged out 79-75.5 by Desborough B in their Kennet League Division Three East match.

They won on the two rinks led by Phil Rose (29-10) and Wayne Manley (20-17) and lost on the other two led by Barry Carter (13-26) and Nick Orde (18-26).

Although the overall shot score was 80-79 in their favour, Twyford had to forfeit 4.5 penalty shots on Orde's rink as they played a man short, so they finished with four league points and Desborough 10.

Twyford were also narrowly beaten 56-53 by Palmer Park in Division Two Central East of the Kennet League, winning one triple and losing two, leaving them with two points and Palmer Park eight.

In a ladies' triples match, Twyford were outplayed on both rinks at Palmer Park and lost 42-20.

Twyford's Saturdays match against Reading University was cancelled.

PROSPECT Park suffered a hefty 102-54 (12-2) defeat to Abingdon in their Kennet League Division One West encounter.

Alan Brown's rink were the only successful one for Park.

In Division One Central West of the Kennet League LV, Prospect Park lost their unbeaten record with a 46-37 (6-4) reverse at Tilehurst.

The B team, however, won all three rinks in their 59-53 (10-0) victory against Burghfield.

Prospect Park are holding an open day between 11am and 3pm this Saturday for anyone wishing to try out the sport.

The only requirement is flat shoes.
