READING FC loanee Matt Miazga stressed he will keep his options open this summer.

The Chelsea FC defender has been on loan at Madejski Stadium since January and has starred as Liam Moore's defensive partner.

Miazga, 22, joined the Premier League giants in 2015 but has made just two appearances since.

The USA international enjoyed loan spells at Vitesse in Holland and Nantes in France before switching to Berkshire.

He immediately established himself as a fans' favourite at Madejski Stadium, and the towering defender insisted he has not ruled out making the switch a permanenet one.

When asked what the summer holds, he replied: "At the moment I'm just focused on contributing to the team.

"I'm really enjoying it here, the fans and all of the staff have been great to me.

"It's one week at a time and we'll see what happens in the summer but obviously I've got to keep my options open."

Miazga was a defensive rock in the 2-1 win over Brentford FC on Saturday.

Royals had taken an early lead through Yakou Meite's brace but were pegged back on the stroke of half-time.

The Bees through everything at Royals in the second half but Gomes' men held on to secure a vital three points, putting them four points clear of the drop-zone.

And Miazga said: "We had a good mentality going into the game. Every game is a must-win.

"Our plan was to keep the intensity up and keep moving forward to create chances. I think we could have scored more in the first half and we were disappointed to conceed.

"We showed character in the second half to close out the game."
