READING have reached the final of England Hockey's Boys Under 18 Tier 3 Championship – and will be playing on their home pitch.

The young Blues booked their ticket by defeating Chesterfield 3-1 in their semi-final.

After a goalless first half, they went a goal down, but their swift counter-attacks eventually paid dividends and they won quite comfortably in the end.

The final against Kent side Marden Russets will be played at Sonning Lane on May 11 (3pm).

Reading will also be hosting other national junior finals over the same weekend.

The U18s, who finished top of their league, are also through to the Mercian Finals Day being held at Southgate HC on April 28, having booked their place with a 4-2 win over Spencer in the quarter-finals.

And joining them at Southgate will be the Reading U16s team, following their 4-2 win over Spencer.

Reading U18s Girls finished runners-up to Southgate in the final of the Premier League Trophy.

First-team star Lee Morton was part of the Great Britain squad which hammered Olympic champions Argentina 5-1 in Rosario last weekend in the FIH Pro League.
